Meet the team.

Brandon Nelson

Lead Pastor
Pastor Brandon Nelson has been apart of ministry since he was a little boy. Growing up as a PK (Pastor's kid), he's been apart of the ins and out's of ministry life. Serving as Executive Pastor from 2014-2018, and before that many other leadership roles. During his time at NSTOP, he developed The Outlet Young Adult Ministry. Facilitating inter-generational relationships, and creating an avenue of opportunity for millennials to embark on a journey with Christ. As a pastor’s kid(PK), he has experienced the ups and downs of ministry, giving him an understanding of the heart necessary for impactful ministry. He graduated from Lee University with a degree in Pastoral Ministry, and currently pursues a Masters Christian ministries.
Making “love” his mantra for ministry, Brandon strives to build relationships and a community that displays the love of Christ. Driven by his love for people, the fabric of his life and ministry is to follow the template set before us in Matthew 22:37-40. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Brandon Nelson is guided by compassion for the judged, the condemned and the broken.

Autumn Nelson

Co-Lead Pastor
Pastor Autumn Nelson grew up in a Northwest suburb of Chicago. She graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor in Mathematics. She then went on to complete her Masters from Northwestern University in Predictive Analytics. She currently works full time as the E-commerce manager at Fortune 500 company. Autumn and Brandon are blessed with beautiful children, son Jethro, and two daughters Ivy and Zoë. Autumn passionately cares for her children and desires to see each of them grow up to be young men and women of God. They share a passion for people and push to show the world that conditions for judgment are conditions for grace. Autumn desires to see women made whole through the work of the Holy Spirit and relationships. She oversees then Ladies and Children's ministry at COP.

Tammi Vega

Community Life Pastor
Pastor Tammi has a knack for delivering truth mixed with a little laughter. She’s not afraid to be real even if it’s uncomfortable. She has an ability to appeal to all ages and holds a special place in her heart for youth. Over the past 20 years Tammi has been exposed to various cultures and because of this has had the privilege to sing and speak in many diverse venues. Her ability to cross social, cultural, and denominational barriers is an intricate part of her calling. In 2013 a door has opened for her to release her debut solo album Say It Loud. The album has a gospel worship flavor unique to her diverse background.  She has a degree in Christian Education from Lee University as well as a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Carson-Newman University. She currently teaches Math in Sycamore,IL. Her heart is to create an atmosphere where freedom and deliverance can occur. She has an undeniable desire to see marriages restored, men and women walking in purpose, and believers encountering grace at a deeper level.

Danita Sims

Administrative & Business Operations Lead
Danita Sims was born and raised in the inner city of Chicago, IL. She has a BA in English from Southern IL University at Carbondale with a minor in Black American Studies and several courses in Creative Writing, Journalism, and Secondary Education. Danita also has a Master's in Urban Planning and Policy (MUPP) from the University of IL at Chicago with a concentration in Community Development. Upon graduating from UIC, she moved to DeKalb, IL to be with family. For nine years, Danita operated as an Employment & Training Representative, Case Manager, and Coordinator of Business Services under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant. Danita's dynamic career includes proven strengths in tutoring, business development, employment readiness, marketing, workshop coordination, leadership development, strategic partnerships, interpersonal communication, office administration, and community outreach. She passionately serves as the Business Operations & Administrative Lead for Cathedral of Praise in DeKalb
